Sidestepping Scammers

To recognize the cessation of hostilities in World War I, November 11 became a federal holiday in the U.S. in 1938. Less than two decades later, in 1954, Congress amended the 1938 act, changing the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Since then, the federal observance has honored American veterans of all wars.

November 28 & 29 – Paramount office closed for the Thanksgiving holiday

December 24 & 25 – Paramount office closed for the Christmas holiday

December 31 – Paramount office closing at noon

January 1 – Paramount office closed for the New Year holiday

Annual Food Drive – Now with Open House

For the 6th year, Paramount Wealth is hosting a Food Drive to support the Jackson Community Food Pantry.

You are welcome to bring non-perishable donations to our Open House, Thursday, November 21, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at our office in Jackson. We will have beverages and appetizers for all who stop in.

The Food Pantry is grateful for any donations; however, they are in particular need of items that contain protein. Here are some examples:

  • Canned meat: tuna, chicken
  • Canned ravioli with meat
  • Hearty soups
  • Peanut butter

If you are not able to attend the Open House, you can bring non-perishable donations to our office during business hours November 18 – 22.

Paramount Wealth will double your efforts by matching the total non-perishable donations.

Webinar Invitation: Protecting Against Identity Theft and Cybercrime

On Wednesday, November 6th, Raymond James is offering you and your family the opportunity to hear Jeff Lanza, a former FBI agent, share stories on what cybercriminals are doing today and what you can do to protect against these threats.

Jeff was an FBI Special Agent for over 20 years, during which he investigated cybercrime, organized crime, human trafficking, and terrorism. Jeff has lectured at Harvard and Princeton Universities and written two highly reviewed books. He is featured in a Netflix documentary about the FBI and he often appears on national television news programs where he talks about the growing threat of cybercrime.

Joining Jeff will be a Raymond James Senior Cybersecurity Analyst, Rafael Escoto Roa, who has extensive experience in both military and corporate environments and will explain what Raymond James does to protect your investments from these threats. In under 60 minutes, you will be a hack against cybercrime and will be able to spot and avoid some of the most popular scams. This will help you and your loved ones avoid being a victim.

Final Stretch Before Election Day: Everything and Nothing has Changed

By: Ed Mills, Raymond James Managing Director and Washington Policy Analyst. “The reality is the 2024 Presidential Election is likely to come down to a small number of voters in key swing states.”

A series of unprecedented and historic events has completely shifted the candidates and dynamics of the race for the presidency and Congress – yet the key issues and likely market impacts of the race remain largely the same, following the entry of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic challenger to former President Donald Trump.

Despite a notable shift in sentiment and momentum behind Harris (compared to when Biden was the nominee) the race is likely to be close through Election Day. Given this unpredictability, we caution against viewing individual incremental shifts in either direction (especially in polling) as clear evidence that either candidate is headed to victory. On the policy/market front, while both Trump and Harris have offered some previews of their respective agendas, policy specifics will still need to be filled including monitoring who is selected for key roles in either Administration. Control of Congress will also play a key role in the ability of either candidate to enact his or her agenda.

Year-End Deadlines for Donor Advised Funds

If you plan on making year-end contributions to a Donor Advised Fund, make sure you are aware of these key deadlines.

  • December 2: Deadline to submit a grant request from your DAF in order for it to be approved in 2024 (if your grant does not meet auto-approval criteria).
  • December 13: Deadline to submit a grant request from your DAF in order for it to be approved in 2024 (if your grant meets auto-approval criteria)
  • December 13: Deadline to open and/or fund a DAF at RJ Charitable
  • December 31: Deadline for contribution checks to be postmarked by in order to count for 2024
